PEABODY, Mass.- Two Boston residents have been arrested following a reported robbery at Northshore Mall in Peabody that left two police officers injured.
The incident happened Monday, September 21, 2026, at about 8:35 p.m., when Peabody police responded to Macy’s after receiving a report of two people suspected of shoplifting.
Police said the two suspects had hidden about $1,660 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying. When a Macy’s employee responsible for preventing theft contacted police, the male suspect allegedly threatened the employee before running away.
Officers found the male suspect near a vehicle in the mall parking lot. As they tried to arrest him, a struggle followed, police said. The suspect then got into the vehicle and drove away, hitting two Peabody police officers and dragging one of them.
Both officers were injured and received medical treatment.
The female suspect was arrested at the scene and later identified as Ta’kerria Tanael Sherrod-Greene, 20, of Boston. She was charged with unarmed robbery in connection with the incident and shoplifting by concealing merchandise in connection with a separate incident on September 7, 2026.
The male suspect was identified as Romello McCain, 20, of Boston. McCain was arrested September 24 by Boston police and members of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section. Police said the arrest was made based on a warrant issued by Peabody District Court.
McCain is charged with unarmed robbery, using a motor vehicle to assault and injure someone, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, damaging property, and leaving the scene of a crash that caused injuries and property damage.
