Littleton resident arrested after wallet stolen from unlocked vehicle

LITTLETON, Mass.- A Littleton resident was arrested after a wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle and a debit card inside was allegedly used at a nearby gas station.

On October 6, 2026, a Harwood Avenue resident reported that someone had taken a wallet from their unlocked vehicle overnight. The wallet contained cash, identification and a debit card. The resident reported that the card was used shortly after the theft at a gas station on King Street, less than half a mile away.

Littleton police reviewed surveillance footage and transaction records with help from the business’s management and staff. Investigators identified a suspect with assistance from the Acton Police Department.

On October 9, a warrant was issued for Kyle Smith, 34. Littleton officers found him at his residence that evening and arrested him. He was initially held without bail and taken to the Billerica House of Correction.

Smith appeared in Ayer District Court on October 13 and was held on bail. He faces charges of larceny under $1,200 from a motor vehicle, receiving a stolen credit card, and fraudulent use of a credit card involving less than $1,200.

Smith is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may follow.

Smith was previously arrested on September 9 in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins on Buttonwood Way and Nashoba Road, according to police.
