ATTLEBORO, Mass.- A brush fire burned approximately two acres Sunday afternoon near Haggerty Highway and Willard Road in Attleboro, according to the Attleboro Fire Department.
Firefighters responded at approximately 1:15 p.m. Aug. 30 after receiving a report of a brush fire. Crews found a large area of brush burning and spreading through the area.
Additional resources were requested because of the size of the fire, limited access and challenges with the water supply.
Firefighters worked for approximately two hours to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. The total area burned was estimated at approximately two acres.
“Brush fires can be challenging because crews are often working in areas with limited access and no immediate water supply,” District Chief Mark Renker said. “These fires can spread quickly, requiring significant manpower and resources to get ahead of them and stop the spread.”
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
