Halifax hidden camera case leads to arrest of Haverhill man on voyeurism, wiretapping

HALIFAX, Mass.- A 37-year-old Haverhill man has been arrested following a months-long investigation into the discovery of a hidden recording device inside a Halifax residence, resulting in multiple charges tied to alleged unlawful surveillance of adults.

Brendan Traub, 37, of Haverhill, was arrested on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, following the execution of an arrest warrant and search warrant conducted with assistance from the Halifax Police Department and the Haverhill Police Department.

He is facing multiple counts of photographing, videotaping, or electronically surveilling a partially nude or nude person, as well as illegal wiretapping.

According to investigators, the case began in February after a hidden recording device was found inside a residence in Halifax. The device was secured and submitted to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department High-Tech Evidence Analysis Team Lab, where forensic examination was conducted.

Following the initial analysis, investigators obtained a search warrant for Traub’s cellular phone. The phone was also analyzed by the same lab at the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, where forensic findings established probable cause and identified Traub as the suspect, according to authorities.

At least seven adult victims have been identified and notified as part of the investigation.

After his arrest on May 6, Traub was initially held on $50,000 cash bail. He was later transported to Plymouth District Court on Friday, May 8, 2026, where he was arraigned and subsequently released on personal recognizance.

Authorities said the investigation remains active and additional charges may be filed.
