Human remains found in Plymouth identified as woman missing since 2019

HANSON, Mass.- Human remains found in a wooded area along Route 3 in Plymouth have been identified as Sandra Crispo, a Hanson woman who had been missing since 2019.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and the Hanson Police Department, the remains were discovered March 6, 2025, by a hunter near the breakdown lane between exits 13 and 14 on Route 3 North in Plymouth.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the wooded area and located part of a human skull along a deer trail. The remains were recovered and transported to the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for analysis.

Investigators later requested assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation for additional forensic testing. The FBI determined the skull was a CODIS match to the DNA of Sandra Crispo through one of the agency’s forensic DNA databases.

Crispo was 54 years old when she disappeared. She was last seen Aug. 7, 2019, and was reported missing to Hanson police on Aug. 9, 2019, after relatives were unable to contact her and found she was not inside her home on Spofford Avenue.

Authorities said Hanson police, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and other law enforcement agencies have continued investigating Crispo’s disappearance since 2019. Investigative efforts have included searches, interviews, forensic testing, and reviews of records.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
