NANTUCKET, Mass.- A debris field from a missing medical transport aircraft was located off Nantucket as crews continued searching Saturday for the six people aboard, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The Gulfstream G100, tail number C-GRJP, was traveling from Bermuda to Boston when the Federal Aviation Administration notified the Coast Guard at approximately 2 a.m. that contact with the aircraft had been lost.

The six people aboard include four Canadian nationals and two Bermudian nationals. The Coast Guard said next of kin have been notified.

Search crews located a debris field confirmed to be associated with the missing aircraft. The search for the six people aboard remains ongoing.

More than 1,600 square miles had been searched over approximately 27 hours, according to the Coast Guard.

Search efforts involve multiple Coast Guard and partner-agency assets, including aircraft and crews from Coast Guard Air Stations Cape Cod and Elizabeth City, Coast Guard Station Brant Point and the Coast Guard Cutter William Sparling.

Two HH-60 helicopter crews and an HC-130 aircraft from the New York Air National Guard’s 106th Rescue Wing are also participating in the search.

The Coast Guard Cutter William Sparling will continue search efforts throughout the night. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
