MAYNARD, Mass.- Maynard High School was placed in safe mode Friday after officials received an anonymous, nonspecific threat against the school.
Police and fire crews responded to the school as public safety officials searched the building. The safe mode designation restricted the movement of students and staff as officials responded to the report.
Officials said the threat does not appear to be credible and that there is no direct threat or immediate danger to students or the public at this time, according to Maynard Police Department.
Officials said the incident is believed to likely be an act of “swatting,” a malicious hoax report intended to cause a significant emergency response.
