WORCESTER, Mass.- Two men were arrested in Worcester after police said they found fentanyl pills, cocaine, marijuana, suspected psychedelic mushrooms and a large-capacity handgun during a search of an apartment.
The search took place Tuesday, September 29, at an apartment on Mott Street. Police said the search warrant targeted 43-year-old Juan Vargas.
During surveillance, Vargas was seen leaving the apartment and was stopped a short distance away on Barclay Street. Police said detectives found three small bags of cocaine inside the cross-body bag he was carrying.
Police then went to the Mott Street apartment with a K-9 and other officers. After knocking and announcing themselves and receiving no response, officers forced their way inside, according to police.
Vargas was not inside the apartment when officers entered. Police said a search of his bedroom found about 40 grams of cocaine packaged for sale, a large quantity of marijuana, suspected psychedelic mushrooms and materials used to package and process drugs.
Inside another bedroom, police found 44-year-old Kola Anjorin, according to the Worcester Police Department. A search of his bedroom allegedly found numerous pressed fentanyl pills packaged for sale, drug packaging and processing materials, and an AR-style large-capacity handgun loaded with a 30-round magazine.
Police said the handgun had no visible serial number and appeared to be a ghost gun. Anjorin does not have a license to carry a firearm or a Firearms Identification Card, according to police.
Vargas was arrested and charged with trafficking 36 to 99 grams of cocaine.
Anjorin was arrested and faces charges related to the fentanyl pills, large-capacity firearm, use of a firearm during a felony, improper firearm storage and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
