SHREWSBURY, Mass.- A traffic stop in Shrewsbury led to the seizure of oxycodone, cocaine, cash and other items from a vehicle, according to police.
The stop took place on Maple Avenue on September 24 after police received a report at 2:29 p.m. of a black 2013 Mercedes C sedan being driven erratically on Oak Street near Oak Middle School.
Police stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Alcides Valentin of Worcester. The vehicle’s registration had been revoked and the car was scheduled to be towed.
While checking the vehicle before it was towed, police found two scales that they said were consistent with drug activity, cash separated and bundled by denomination, and a pill bottle containing numerous blue pills.
The pills were later identified as oxycodone, weighing 21 grams. Police also found a clear bag containing a white powder that was later identified as cocaine, weighing 14 grams. Both substances are classified as Class B drugs, according to police.
The pill bottle had no name on its label, police said. Several bank cards that were not in Valentin’s name were also found.
Valentin was arrested and charged with several motor vehicle violations, as well as oxycodone trafficking and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
