MILFORD, Mass.- A 24-year-old homeless man was arrested after a resident reported finding an intruder inside a home on Christina Road in Milford early Sunday morning, police said.

The Milford Public Safety Communications Center received an emergency call at about 4:15 a.m. on September 20. The resident reported waking up to find a man wearing a pink shirt and jeans in the bedroom. After a brief confrontation, the man left the home before officers arrived.

Officer Kevin Heenan arrived about three minutes later and spoke with the residents. They told police the man had entered through an unlocked garage door before going into the bedroom.

Officers searched the area with a police dog and a drone but did not find the man.

At about 7 a.m., another resident called police after seeing a man matching the description walking on South Central Street.

Heenan located the man near the intersection of South Central and Central streets. Police said the man became combative and tried to run when Heenan attempted to stop him. After a brief struggle, Heenan took him into custody.

Police identified the man as Bruno Ramos, 24, who is homeless.

Ramos was charged with breaking into a building at night with the intent to commit a felony, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct. He was scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on September 21.

Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino commended Heenan and the patrol division for their response.

Tusino said the incident was the third time in five months that a Milford resident had awakened to an intruder in their home. He urged residents to lock the doors to their homes and vehicles.
