Ronei DeOliveira arraigned in connection with fatal Framingham pedestrian crash

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.- A 44-year-old Framingham resident was arraigned in connection with a crash that allegedly killed a pedestrian on Hollis Street.

Ronei DeOliveira was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of personal injury or death following the September 7 crash, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Framingham Police Chief Lester Baker.

Police said DeOliveira was allegedly driving a pickup truck on Hollis Street at about 10:30 p.m. when he struck Philip Bligh, 62, of Framingham.

Following the crash, DeOliveira allegedly fled the scene on foot. Bligh was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where he later died.

Officers responding to the crash spoke with witnesses who reported seeing the collision and the defendant leaving the scene. Police said officers later located DeOliveira after he had returned to the area and that he allegedly smelled of alcohol.

DeOliveira was arrested and charged in connection with the crash.

At his arraignment in Framingham District Court Monday, bail was set at $250,000. He was also ordered to submit to GPS monitoring, not consume alcohol and surrender his passport.

The next date in the case is September 30, 2026.
