AUBURN, Mass.- A tractor-trailer fire and a subsequent diesel fuel spill closed all three eastbound lanes of the Massachusetts Turnpike in Auburn Tuesday night, causing heavy traffic in the area.
A fully involved tractor-trailer fire was reported around 8:40 p.m. Aug. 25 on the eastbound Mass Pike, with all three eastbound lanes closed.
Around 9 p.m., the Auburn Fire Department reported approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel on the roadway, spread across roughly 100 yards. The spill was reported at approximately the 90.5-mile marker.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and Auburn Water were notified, according to the fire department.
Motorists were advised to seek an alternate route.
No injuries were reported.
