SHREWSBURY, Mass.- A man was found dead underwater in Lake Quinsigamond near Sunset Beach in Shrewsbury on Monday, following an extensive search that began Sunday afternoon.
The search began after a 911 call was received at approximately 3:27 p.m. Sunday, August 9, reporting that a man was possibly drowning near Sunset Beach. Search efforts continued throughout the afternoon and evening, but the man was not located.
Authorities resumed the search Monday morning in the same area. In the late morning, divers located the man underwater with the assistance of sonar technology. He was pronounced dead shortly after being brought to the surface.
Multiple agencies assisted with the search. The Shrewsbury Police Department said the investigation remains active. The man’s identity and additional details have not been released.
