Juvenile charged after Webster “takeover” disturbance

WEBSTER, Mass.- A juvenile faces multiple assault charges following a series of disturbances involving dozens of juveniles in Webster on July 25, including an incident in which a police officer was kicked in the face and a paramedic was head-butted.

The incidents began around 8 p.m., when officers responded to Ray Street Park after a large group gathered for what police described as a “takeover” event involving alcohol and drug use. The park is posted as closed to trespassing after dark. Officers dispersed the group.

About 30 minutes later, officers responded to May Street Park, where more than 40 people had gathered. Police said juveniles were disruptive, and officers later found multiple bottles and cans of alcohol after responding to a report of a possibly intoxicated missing juvenile.

Officers then patrolled nearby neighborhoods and responded to several fights and disturbances believed to involve members of the same group.

At approximately 9:49 p.m., officers found an intoxicated juvenile screaming on School Street. Police said she collapsed while being evaluated and then kicked Officer Nicholas Caruso in the face as officers attempted to get her into an ambulance. She later head-butted a Dudley paramedic while being escorted to the ambulance.

The juvenile was transported to a local hospital.

About an hour later, officers responded to a party near 360 School Street involving approximately 20 juveniles. Officers found additional alcohol inside the multifamily apartment building and eventually quelled the disturbance.

One juvenile faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a police officer, assault and battery on ambulance personnel, and assault on a police officer. Another individual was charged with minor in possession of alcohol.
