BEDFORD, Mass.- Col. Jorge Jimenez will hand over command of the 66th Air Base Group at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford during a July 15 ceremony, concluding a two-year tenure.

Hanscom Air Force Base is a U.S. Air Force installation that supports the development and management of advanced military systems, including technology used for communications, intelligence and command operations.

According to Hanscom Air Force Base, Jimenez credited the installation’s workforce for helping make his tenure successful.

“They are true professionals who do their work and carry their weight,” Jimenez said. “The job was hectic but less stressful than I expected, and I attribute that to the great people.”

Before taking command, Jimenez served as comptroller for Headquarters, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. According to Hanscom officials, that experience shaped his focus on maintaining a strong readiness posture at the installation.

During his tenure, Jimenez emphasized training exercises, physical fitness and Ready Airman Training to strengthen preparedness across the base, according to Hanscom Air Force Base.

Hanscom reported that Jimenez spent his first months in command listening to personnel and learning about the installation before implementing changes. The approach, according to the base, helped improve communication between the 66th Air Base Group, mission partners and tenant organizations.

“I wanted people to understand that every organization here plays an important role in supporting the warfighter,” Jimenez said.

According to Hanscom Air Force Base, Jimenez also focused on professional development, including helping personnel pursue promotions, commissioning opportunities and career growth.

As he prepares for his next assignment, Jimenez said his time at Hanscom made him an advocate for the installation and the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to be the 66th Air Base Group commander,” Jimenez said. “I hope that I leave this community better than I found it.”
