MEDFORD, Mass.- A 60-year-old Medford man has been arrested in connection with alleged thefts from local church donation boxes, following an investigation into a series of incidents at two area parishes, according to authorities.
Medford police identified the suspect as Michael Bagley, 60, after receiving a report on June 15, 2026, regarding suspected thefts at St. Joseph’s Parish and St. Francis Church. Investigators said video footage reviewed by the parishes showed a man entering the churches after Sunday services and removing money from donation boxes. The footage dates back to May 19. Authorities estimate nearly $2,000 was taken over approximately one month.
The case was investigated by the department’s Detective Division, which identified Bagley as the suspect. Detectives also determined he is allegedly linked to similar thefts in multiple surrounding cities and towns, though no additional locations were specified.
On Sunday, June 21, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., detectives located Bagley in Medford Square as he was walking toward St. Joseph’s Parish following Sunday services. He was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.
Bagley faces multiple charges, including six counts of larceny from a building, six counts of breaking into a depository, and six counts of possession of burglarious instruments. He is expected to be arraigned in Somerville District Court on June 23, 2026.
