PLYMPTON, Mass.- A 34-year-old Plympton man is facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated rape and strangulation, in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident reported on June 9, according to prosecutors.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office announced that Stephen Bresnahan has been charged with aggravated rape, strangulation or suffocation, witness intimidation, assault and battery on a household or family member, two counts of drug possession, and one count of possession with intent to distribute.
According to prosecutors, during the early morning hours of June 9, the Randolph Police Department notified Plympton Police that a woman had reported being sexually assaulted at a residence on West Street in Plympton.
The woman identified Bresnahan as the alleged assailant. Prosecutors said she sustained severe injuries during the reported assault and was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
Officers responded to the West Street residence and arrested Bresnahan. While in custody, he began displaying symptoms of suspected drug use and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to the district attorney’s office.
