WORCESTER, Mass.- A pedestrian was killed Tuesday morning, June 10, after being struck by a tow truck while crossing an intersection in Worcester, Massachusetts, in a crash that remains under investigation.
The collision occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. in the area of Canterbury Street and Grand Street. First responders found a woman suffering severe head and leg injuries. Officers applied a tourniquet to her leg at the scene before she was pronounced dead at 10:09 a.m. by Worcester Fire and EMS.
The victim has been identified as Van Thi Khanh Doan of Worcester.
A preliminary investigation indicates Doan was in a marked crosswalk crossing Canterbury Street when a tow truck making a left turn at the intersection struck her.
The Worcester Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into the circumstances of the crash and whether charges will be filed. The Worcester Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
