BRIDGEWATER, Mass.- An Amazon employee was arrested in Bridgewater after allegedly stealing hundreds of items from a warehouse in an alleged long-running scheme, according to police.
Bridgewater Police said detectives, working with members of the WEB Major Crimes and Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant on Thursday, May 28, at approximately 9 a.m. at a residence on Cross Street. The warrant was tied to an investigation into stolen merchandise from an Amazon warehouse on Elm Street.
The investigation began after Amazon Loss Prevention personnel reported concerns involving one of the company’s employees. Detectives later determined that the employee allegedly diverted merchandise from the warehouse over a period lasting several months to possibly multiple years.
Authorities said the scheme involved items ranging in value from thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Among the stolen property were high-end electronic devices. Police said the activity occurred inside the warehouse and did not involve individual customer packages.
During the search, investigators seized hundreds of confirmed stolen items.
Police arrested Alexandra Marie Rodriguez, 34, of Bridgewater, and charged her with larceny from a building, larceny over $1,200, and receiving stolen property over $1,200.
The investigation remains ongoing.
