LAWRENCE, Mass.- A Lawrence woman was found dead inside a Canal Street apartment early Saturday morning, and her boyfriend has been charged with murder in connection with her death.
Tyler Halley, 21, of Lawrence, was arraigned in Lawrence District Court on Monday on charges of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the death of Madison Tesniere, 20.
According to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, Lawrence Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 3:18 a.m. on May 23, 2026, and arrived at an apartment at 240 Canal Street, where Tesniere was found suffering from a severe head wound.
She was transported to Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The investigation is being conducted by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to District Attorney Paul F. Tucker’s office, along with the Lawrence Police Department and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
During Monday’s arraignment before Judge Carol-Ann T. Fraser, Halley pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail. Assistant District Attorney Erin Bellavia represented the Commonwealth. Halley was represented by attorney Amy Sixt.
He is scheduled to return to court on June 24 for a probable cause hearing.
