WELLESLEY, Mass.- Authorities have charged a Wellesley woman with the murders of her two children following an investigation into their deaths on Edgemoor Avenue, according to prosecutors.
The Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said an arrest warrant was obtained for Janette MacAusland, 49, of Wellesley, charging her with two counts of murder in the deaths of her children, ages 6 and 7.
Officials said MacAusland is currently in custody in Vermont and is expected to appear Monday in Bennington County Superior Court on a fugitive from justice charge. Authorities added that Massachusetts State Police and the Wellesley Police Department are coordinating with the Vermont State Police to arrange her transfer to Massachusetts, where she will face prosecution.
Officials also confirmed the children were students in the Wellesley Public School System. School counselors will be available at the schools on Monday to provide support services for students and staff.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
