Shrewsbury is coming together to honor Kevin Doherty, 56, the victim of a fatal shooting in August, with a community day of remembrance and vigil. The event aims to support Doherty’s fiancé, Sarah, and their family while celebrating his life.
Doherty was shot after confronting 26-year-old Snehal Ansh Srivastava near Jordan Pond, where Srivastava was allegedly spray-painting. He was pronounced dead at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Srivastava later surrendered following a multi-department search involving local police and the State Police Tactical Operations Team.
The remembrance will include food trucks, live music, raffles, a silent auction, and bounce houses for children. Shrewsbury Strong stickers, magnets, and shirts will also be available, with all proceeds going to support Doherty’s family. Organizers emphasized that the gathering is a chance for the community to come together, show love, and offer support.
The event will take place at the Scandinavian Athletic Club (SAC Park) at 438 Lake Street, Shrewsbury, this Saturday, October 11, from 2 to 8 PM.
