The Shrewsbury Commission on Disabilities is seeking input from residents through a new Disability Needs Survey aimed at identifying ways to make the town more accessible and supportive for people with disabilities.
The survey invites participation from individuals with disabilities, caregivers, family members, and advocates. Organizers say the feedback will help shape town policies and programs by highlighting specific challenges and unmet needs within the community.
Questions cover a wide range of topics, including accessibility of sidewalks, public buildings, parks, restrooms, and community events, as well as digital communication, public transportation, and town services. Respondents are also asked about services that would be most helpful to them, such as accessible housing, transportation options, inclusive recreation programs, or mental health resources.
Participation is anonymous unless respondents choose to share contact information for follow-up. The Commission emphasizes that community voices are vital in shaping a more inclusive Shrewsbury, noting that the results will directly inform future planning and initiatives.
