The Shrewsbury Police Chief Kevin Anderson and District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. provided an update on a fatal shooting near Jordan Pond.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. today, when police received a 911 call from a man involved in an altercation, during which gunshots were heard. The victim, a 57-year-old man, later succumbed to his injuries after being transported to UMass Medical Center.
Police utilized drone technology to locate the suspect at a nearby residence shortly after the shooting. With the help of the Massachusetts State Police Special Tactical Operations Team and Air Wing, the situation was resolved peacefully, with the suspect surrendering without further incident. He is currently in custody at the Shrewsbury Police Station and is expected to be arraigned in Westborough District Court.
The investigation remains active, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services and K-9 Unit. Authorities have yet to release the identities of the victim and suspect. The Shrewsbury Police Department expressed gratitude for the support from local and state partners during this incident.

Shortly before 9 a.m., Shrewsbury Police received a 911 call from a person in an altercation with another individual on the pathway adjacent to Jordan Pond in Shrewsbury.
During the 911 call, telecommunicators heard what appeared to be gunshots, at which point the caller became unresponsive. After the suspect fled the scene, Shrewsbury Police arrived on scene, rendered aid to the victim, and facilitated medical transport to UMass Medical Center, where the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Using drone technology, Shrewsbury Police located the suspect a short time later in a nearby residence. With the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Special Tactical Operations Team (STOP Team) and the Air Wing, Law Enforcement achieved a peaceful resolution when the suspect surrendered without further incident. Police transported the suspect to the Shrewsbury Police Station, where he remains in custody.
The on-scene investigation by the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Shrewsbury Police Detectives continues with the assistance of the Mass. State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the Mass. State Police K-9 Unit. No further information is available at this time regarding the identity of the suspect or the victim. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Westborough District Court tomorrow on charges relating to the incident.
