Shrewsbury has announced its waste management initiatives for the 2024 holiday season, providing guidelines for households participating in the Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) program.
From December 30, 2024, to January 4, 2025, PAYT customers can place one plastic trash bag (non-PAYT) of up to 35 gallons for curbside collection on their designated collection day. This adjustment accommodates the one-day collection delay due to New Year’s Day.
The 2025 Christmas tree curbside collection is scheduled for January 13, 2025, through January 17, 2025. Residents can dispose of one real holiday tree per household during this period. Trees must be free of snow, ice, and decorations, and they should not be frozen to the ground. To ensure efficient collection, residents are reminded to place their trees at the curb by 7 AM, making sure they are visible to the collection crew.
Additionally, residents with excess cardboard can utilize the drop-off bin located at 211 South Street (DPW Garage).
