The Reliant Foundation’s annual 5K took place on Saturday, October 5, and brought together over 200 runners and walkers. The event raised more than $31,000 to support programs for youth mental health, substance use prevention, and recovery.
Held at Shore Park in Worcester, the race followed a scenic route around Indian Lake. Oscar Herrera from Worcester finished first in the men’s category with a time of 17:24. Jamie McNamara from Shrewsbury won the women’s category, finishing in 21:12. Shrewsbury also stood out with “Team Munq,” led by Timothy Hally and Justin Matsen, winning the Community Team Trophy.
Kelsa Zereski, President of the Reliant Foundation, praised the event’s success, thanking over 50 volunteers and numerous sponsors. The race is part of a new series called “5K for Good,” which includes upcoming races by Abby’s House and Veterans Inc., aimed at supporting community initiatives.
“We’re proud the event continues to draw hundreds of runners, walkers, and spectators each year. We are very fortunate to have the help of more than 50 community volunteers, and to receive such strong support from corporate and individual sponsors that help us make the day a success,” said Zereski.
