Seth H. Colby was officially sworn in as Fire Chief during the Shrewsbury Select Board meeting on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
Shrewsbury State Representative Hannah Kane attended the event and presented Colby with a Citation from the State House of Representatives, congratulating him on his new role.
Former Fire Chief Vuona expressed confidence in Colby’s leadership, stating that the department “has been left in the best possible hands with new Chief Seth Colby,” in a public statement a few days before the ceremony.
Seth Colby began his career with the Shrewsbury Fire Department in 1997 as a firefighter. Over the years, he has steadily advanced, being promoted to Fire Captain in 2006 and Deputy Fire Chief in 2019. Additionally, he serves as the Director of the Shrewsbury Emergency Management Agency.
Chief Colby has also contributed to the fire services community as an instructor and certificate examiner for the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration – Fire and Emergency Services and a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science.
