Smash-and-grab at Hudson smoke shop ends in arrest of three juveniles

On the early morning of Saturday, August 17, the Hudson Police Department received a report of a burglar alarm being triggered at DAB Smoke Shop, which is situated at 234 Washington Street in Hudson. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found that the front entrance of the store had been smashed, presumably by a vehicle that had backed into the building.

Following the incident, Hudson Police issued a notification to surrounding police departments to be on the lookout for a vehicle with damage consistent with the break-in. Shortly thereafter, a Marlborough Police officer observed a vehicle matching the description and initiated a stop with assistance from a Massachusetts State Trooper.

Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of three juveniles: a 15-year-old male from Boston, a 16-year-old male from Quincy, and a 17-year-old male from Danvers. Merchandise allegedly stolen from the DAB Smoke Shop was reportedly found in the vehicle.

The vehicle involved was impounded. Two of the suspects were held on bail, while the third was released to legal guardians. The juveniles are expected to be arraigned at Framingham Juvenile Court in the coming days.

In a statement regarding the incident, Hudson Police Chief Richard P. DiPersio commented, “This is an example of strong police work, and it should send a message that break-ins and burglaries at our local businesses will not be tolerated.”
