During the first week of March, officers and dispatchers from the Shrewsbury Police Department devoted two days to Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) training at the permanently closed McCloskey Middle School in Uxbridge, Massachusetts.

According to the agency, the training brought together law enforcement officers, firefighters, medics, and emergency dispatchers from multiple agencies to simulate real-life emergency scenarios.

The primary purpose of this training is to enhance effectiveness, communication, and coordination among various agencies. The ultimate goal, as emphasized by the Shrewsbury Police, is to increase the chances of survival for victims.

The Shrewsbury Police expressed their commitment to ensuring all officers receive ongoing training and are prepared to respond effectively to such unfortunate events, although they hope never to experience them.

“While we hope that Shrewsbury never has to experience an unfortunate event such as this, we are committed to ensuring all of our officers are continually trained and proficient in these scenarios and are fully prepared to respond,” stated the Shrewsbury Police Department.
