According to a statement by the law enforcement agency, the cruiser, with its blue lights on, was on the right side of the road. After finishing the stop and getting back into his car, a 2017 Chevy Malibu crashed into the stationary police vehicle.
The impact damaged the left side and left rear tire of the Police cruiser, making it unable to move. Both Officer Charland and the Malibu driver got minor injuries, were transported to UMASS, and were later released.
A passenger in the Malibu, Christian George, 24, from Worcester, was arrested for an outstanding warrant for Destruction of Property from Milford District Court.
The Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s Crash Reconstruction team investigated the accident, as stated by the agency. However, the crash is still under investigation.
