During one of these gatherings students at Al-Hamra Academy, an Islamic private school, had the chance to meet police officers and explore police vehicles.
Another event dubbed the “Tour of Service” took place at St. Anne’s Latin Catholic parish, where officers attended a church service and shared coffee and donuts with parishioners.
The Shrewsbury Police Department stated on October 11, 2023, that several officers and detectives participated in these events, which were well-received by those in attendance.
“Several Officers and Detectives assisted with both events, which were enjoyed by all present,” the public agency stated.
In 2020, MovementForward, Inc., and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) introduced Faith & Blue, seeking to strengthen police-community connections for safer, more inclusive neighborhoods. Faith-based organizations play a pivotal role, given their widespread presence, diversity, and shared commitment to mutual support in our society.
