State Representative Hannah Kane, representing the 11th Worcester District, nominated Beth Murray for the recognition. Wendy Mickel of Westborough was also named a Commonwealth Heroine, nominated by Representative Kane and Representative Donaghue from the 19th Worcester District.
Beth Murray serves as the Nutrition Manager for the Meals on Wheels Program in Shrewsbury. She played a vital role in starting the Food Sharing Pantry at the Senior Center in collaboration with Saint Anne’s Food Pantry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her Meals on Wheels program continued to provide food to homebound individuals. Beth is also dedicated to volunteering and supporting various programs at the Senior Center.

The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women is an independent state agency created in 1998 through legislation. Its purpose is to advance women in the Commonwealth towards full equality in all areas of life and to advocate for their rights and opportunities.
