Jason Palitsch announces he will not run for re-election to Shrewsbury School Committee

Jason Palitsch, the current Vice Chair of the Shrewsbury School Committee, has announced that he will not seek reelection when his term expires in May 2023.

Palitsch, who is currently serving his third term as a member of the committee, made the announcement at the start of the January 4 School Committee meeting, and on its social media services.

“Serving on the Shrewsbury School Committee has been the honor of a lifetime. Earlier tonight, I announced that I will not be seeking re-election to a fourth term this May, and will instead create further opportunity for someone new to step into the role,” Palitsch said.

Palitsch continued: “I am proud of what Shrewsbury Public Schools has achieved during my tenure. We successfully addressed many pressing space and resource needs, passed 2 much-needed operational overrides, and finally achieved tuition-free Full Day Kindergarten for all students.”

Palitsch is a Shrewsbury public schools graduate and is currently the Executive Director of the 495/MetroWest Corridor Partnership.

In his statement, Palitsch also highlighted that “substantial challenges remain” in the School Committee.

“Despite this progress, substantial challenges remain. I have confidence in our district’s leadership and staff that these challenges will be met, as others have been. I also feel that this is the right moment for someone with a fresh perspective to step onto the committee.”
