Maura Healey has officially started her journey as the 73rd governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She was sworn in on Thursday, January 5th, succeeding Charlie Baker.
Healey (51), who served as the state’s attorney general for the past eight years, is the first woman to be elected governor of Massachusetts.
In her inaugural speech, governor Healey made remarks on her “more than three centuries” family’s story in Massachusetts, assured that she believes “Massachusetts can lead the world,” and that she “will make [Massachusetts] stronger than ever before.”
Joining Healey was the former mayor of Salem, Kim Driscoll, sworn in as lieutenant governor.
