Shrewsbury to celebrate first in-person Memorial Day Parade after two-year pause

The Shrewsbury Memorial Day Parade returns in person to celebrate the 154th Anniversary of the Founding of Memorial Day by the Grand Army of the Republic.

Like every year before the pandemic pause, Shrewsbury officials, local high school bands, and Veterans groups will be marching through the town, this time on Monday, May 30, 2022.

The parade will form at 9:00 a.m. at the Richard D. Carney Municipal Office Building (100 Maple Avenue). At 9:20 a.m. Selectman Maurice DePalo and State Representative Hannah Kane will offer the opening remarks by the Soldier’s statue at the Police Station.

Parade groups will start marching at 9:30 a.m., making a stop at the town center’s War Memorial, and then finishing at the Mountain View Cemetery.

The 2022 Memorial Address will be performed by Gold Star Mom Tracy Racine.
