Hosted by the Mayflower Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the 2021 Good Scout Award ceremony was held on November 10, 2021, in an indoor gathering at the DoubleTree Hotel in Westborough.
The Good Scout Award is granted to individuals who “have demonstrated integrity and genuine concern for others in both their professional and personal lives,” according to the Scouts of America.

Ian Johnson is a Westborough Selectman and has served on the town Finance Committee. He is “very involved in Scouting and serves as a member of the Good Scout Committee,” the Scouts explained in a press release.
Mrs. Johnson is the President of the Westborough Education Foundation, Treasurer of the Westborough Cultural Council, and co-chair of Arts In Common. She is also President of the Public Westborough Library Foundation, chairs the Annual Trivia Bee, and co-chairs the Turkey Trot. In 2020 Maureen Johnson was named a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Heroine.
“Congratulations to Ian and Maureen Johnson recipients of the 2021 Good Scout Award from the Mayflower Council, Boy Scouts of America! Thank you for all your selfless service to the Westborough community and Scouting!” Shrewsbury State Representative Hannah Kane said in a public statement.
“Congratulations! I am always amazed at how committed and involved scout families are,” said in a public statement Shrewsbury Selectwoman Beth Casavant.
