Inspired by traditional European Christmas markets, the Yuletide Market will offer for sale food, beverages, holiday treats, sweets, gift items, crafts, music, and, entertainment.
“What better way to get into the holiday spirit than an evening of holiday cheer in an outdoor market, strolling through the lights on the Town Common, and enjoying holiday music? – “It promises to be magical!” the STCA said.
Holiday shopping, food trucks, warm mulled wine, and a beer garden by Greater Good Imperial Brewing Company, will be available at the event.
Additionally, the Shrewsbury Fire Department will serve their delicious “Fire House Chili,” and the Boy Scout Troop 114 will have a fundraiser with hot cocoa and treats.
In a press release, the event’s host committee acknowledged the “incredible generosity of the Light the Common Presenting Sponsor Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union and Yuletide Market Presenting Sponsor Robert “Chief Joseph” Terkanian.” The committee recognized also SELCO for being a Major Sponsor, for their “valuable assistance in bringing power to the Town Common.” David Chiampa was specially acknowledged for “generously allowing the use of his parking lot for the event.”
The event will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Town Common and behind Chiampa Funeral Home off of Church Road. Festivities will begin at 4:45 p.m. with the Light the Common accompanied by a carillon of bells from the First Congregational Church’s bell tower. The Yuletide Market will open from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Admission is free. No pets are allowed except for service dogs.
Parking will be available at the Town Hall/Senior Center with free shuttles running from 4:15 – 8:45 p.m. to and from Town Hall to the Town Common. Other parking options include the former Beal School.
