A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect in the Town of Shrewsbury tomorrow Saturday, December 5, starting at 7 a.m.

The National Weather Service (NWS) agency released the “urgent” weather message on Friday, December 4, at 3:02 p.m., and declared that the storm will mainly affect Worcester and Middlesex counties.

Total snow accumulations are estimated at 6 to 12 inches, with the highest buildups in the “Worcester Hills at elevations over 1000 feet.” Winds gusting will be as high as 45mph.

According to the agency, the wet snow may result in “numerous power outages” with “some downed trees” if the higher snow totals are realized. Travel could be “very difficult,” NWS stated.

The warning is in effect until Sunday, December 6, at 7:00 a.m.

Travel is discouraged, but if you must, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
