Two weeks after the reopening process of Massachusetts allowed restaurants to open for dine-in, the state government announced that on Monday, July 6th, 2020, phase III would begin.
According to the state’s government, “key public health data” have been closely monitored and has seen a decline in COVID-19 positive cases and hospitalized patients.
Since mid-April, the 7-day average for the positive COVID-19 test rate is down 94 percent, the 3-day average of hospitalized patients is down 79 percent, and the number of hospitals in the surge is down 86 percent, the government says.
Phase III of the reopening plan will compose two steps, starting the first on July 6th with the following businesses eligible to reopen:
- Movie theaters and outdoor performance venues
- Museums, cultural and historical sites
- Fitness centers and health clubs
- Certain indoor recreational activities with low potential for contact
- Professional sports teams, under the authority of league-wide rules, may hold games without spectators
These businesses will need to follow several sector-specific protocols and best practices, including mandatory safety standards.
