On January 21st, 2020, a Northborough resident of 63 years old was arraigned on seven counts of human trafficking and two counts of rape, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

The man, identified as “John B. Clayton IV”, turned himself to the Massachusetts State Police in Milbury after a Worcester Superior Court warrant was issued for his arrest last week.

Clayton was a teacher at “the high school and college levels,” District Attorney office said.

Investigators from the Massachusetts State Police High Risk Victims Unit, assisted by Northborough and Worcester Police, identified multiple women who, as “alleged by the evidence, were targeted, manipulated, and exploited by Mr. Clayton”.

“The victims allegedly preyed upon by the defendant were drug-addicted, engaged in prostitution, isolated from support, and having very little financial means,” the State Police reported.

The case is being prosecuted by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, who said that besides the human trafficking and rape charges, Mr. Clayton also faces two counts of intimidation of a witness. The offenses occurred between 2015 and 2019
