The Kenneth F. Burns Memorial Bridge that connects the town of Shrewsbury with the city of Worcester shines in red to honor Worcester Firefighter Lieutenant Jason J. Menard, who passed away from injuries suffered when he became trapped in a building fire.
Lt. Menard, 39, was a Worcester firefighter since 2010, assigned to Ladder 5, Group 2 at McKeon Road Fire Station. He succumbed to his injuries after “heroically and selflessly saved his crew” battling a four-alarm fire in 7 Stockholm Street in Worcester on Wednesday, November 13, said Worcester Fire Chief Michael Lavoie.
He was married and a father of three children.

Funeral services for Menard will be held on Monday, November 18th, at 11:00 AM at Saint John Roman Catholic Church of Worcester (44 Temple Street).
