The Shrewsbury Christian Clergy Association took time during their ordinary Ecumenical meeting held on Tuesday, March 19th, 2019, to pray for the victims of the terrorist attack to Mosques in New Zealand, where 50 people were killed.
“May the love of the one God of all Jews, Christians & Muslims shine through and bring us to a renewed commitment to address the evil divisions and hatred in our world,” Saint Mary’s Presbyter Monsignor Michael Rose said in a statement.
“I join the people of St. Mary’s in extending to all of our Muslim neighbors in Shrewsbury our deep sympathy in the tragic, senseless slaughter of innocent, faithful people,” Rose stated.
The Christchurch mosque shootings were two consecutive terrorist mass shootings at Al Noor Mosque and the Linwood Islamic Center in Christchurch, New Zealand, during Friday Prayer on 15 March 2019. The attacks killed 50 people and injured another 50.
