The Shrewsbury Education Foundation has opened the submissions for nominees to the John P. Collins Awards for Excellence 2018-2019. These awards are given to educators devoted to bringing to life the mission of the Shrewsbury Public Schools. The nominations this year will be for the following categories:
- Professional Educator (classroom teachers, special education teachers, subject specialist teachers, nurses, counselors, psychologists, therapists, instructional coaches, etc.);
- Paraprofessional (classroom aides, special education aides, child-specific aides, ABA technicians, media aides, tutors, etc.);
- Support Staff (secretaries, technology support, custodians, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, Extended School Care providers);
- Leadership (principals, assistant principals, department directors, curriculum coordinators, district administrators or any staff member who has demonstrated excellent leadership);
- Unsung Hero (volunteers, PTO, boosters, supporters, fans, helpers).
Anyone in the community can nominate someone for these categories, providing the nominees either work or volunteer in the Shrewsbury Public Schools. The nomination process already begun online —the form is available here— and will end on Friday, November 5th 2018 at 5PM. The winners will be notified by the end of the year and the awards ceremony is scheduled to take place next year on Saturday, January 26th 2019 at the Cyprian Keyes Golf Club.
