A seven-year old girl was found near Lake Quinsigamond after being presumably kidnapped by a friend of her family on Sunday, August 27th, and survived being strangled and thrown off a bridge into the lake.

According to the Worcester PD, the child “was at a family party at her grandparents’ house on Forestdale Rd in Worcester. At about 2:30 AM, she was taken from the residence by a family friend without the permission of her parents. She was put in a car, strangled, and thrown off a bridge into Lake Quinsigamond. She survived the drop and swam to shore, where she was eventually discovered with visible, but not life-threatening injuries”.

The girl spoke to the Shrewsbury Police, which began a collaborative effort between the Shrewsbury PD, the Worcester PD, detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, and the Massachusetts State Police.

On Sunday, Joshua Hubert, 35, was arrested for the incident and charged with kidnapping.

Members of the Worcester Police Detective Bureau continue to work on the Kidnapping investigation on the case, and are reaching out to business owners in the Lincoln Street area and also to businesses in Shrewsbury that may have outside video, to review their video from August 27th from 2:00 AM to 4:30 AM.

Investigators are looking for any video footage that may have captured a light colored Saturn Ion that could have entered their parking lot during that time frame.
