The Shrewsbury Library will host some talks on self-publishing with the Young Adult literature writer Diane Vanaskie Mulligan, in which she’ll provide an overview of the process behind manuscript preparation to marketing platforms, as well as online Ebook distribution, Print On Demand options, editor and artists hiring vs. going full DIY, and other related subjects. Diane Mulligan is the current Managing Editor of the Worcester Review and the director of The Betty Curtis Worcester County Young Writers’ Conference at St. John’s High School, where she teaches English. This free workshop will take place on Saturday August 15th, from 10AM to noon.
Two days later, on Monday, August 17th, the local author Lyn Lincourt will talk about her research on the mansions of Shrewsbury and her book Mansions of Magnates; she’ll bring along copies of this new book for sale and signing. Her experiences in New York and Washington gave her perspective on the key moments that changed the world through the technology and manufacturing at the hand of these magnates, leading also to an economical shift in the workforce and a dramatic decrease of the middle class sector. Her insight is meant to suggest a solution to this growing issue. This event is also free, and will take place from 7PM to 8PM.
